BRILLIANT BLACK ART

Your presence at our wedding is the greatest gift. In lieu of traditional gifts, we are excited to curate our home with intention. We can not think of a better way to start our marriage than by investing in art that inspires us. We are dedicating this fund to our first major heirloom piece from the amazing Gallery Guichard in Chicago. Thank you for helping us bring this brilliance into our home!

Our Love Story

Our Story: His Timing

They say first impressions are everything, but for Del and Angéle, the start was less than ideal. When a mutual friend intentionally set them up, neither heard wedding bells. Del walked away convinced Angéle was a bit too “bougie” while Angéle was certain Del was far too rigid to be fun. In short: it was a swing and a miss.

About a year later, God provided another “window of opportunity,” and they were wise enough to finally open it. Their second “first date” was a total shift in perspective. They discovered those initial judgments were actually misread strengths: Angéle didn’t just appreciate “fine things,” she had a refined eye for beauty and quality; Del wasn’t rigid, he was simply a man of intense focus and ambition.

As they talked, they found a string of commonalities that felt less like luck and more like a decades-long pursuit by fate. Looking back, it is clear they needed that year apart to grow into the individuals they are today. They did the “work” separately so that when they finally came together, they were perfectly aligned with His will.

Though both spent years being fiercely independent, they realized their lives were infinitely richer when woven together. Their journey has been slow, steady, and intentional—a testament that love is the patient, kind, and enduring foundation described in 1 Corinthians 13:4.

They can’t wait to start this next chapter of their beautiful, slightly delayed, but perfectly timed story with all of you.

Q&A

By what date should we reply?

Please submit your response by October 16. We kindly ask that you only RSVP for the guests specifically named on your invitation.

What are the parking and transportation arrangements?

For a seamless experience, we highly recommend utilizing a private car or ride-sharing service. Should you choose to drive, parking near the church is available at the garages located on 218 O’Keefe Avenue, 817 Common Street, and 166 Roosevelt Way. For the reception, complimentary parking is conveniently located along Lelong Drive or adjacent to the Besthoff Sculpture Garden. Note that Christmas in the Oaks is taking place in City Park so parking may be limited.

May we take photographs during the wedding?

We invite you to be fully present with us and kindly request an unplugged ceremony, free of phones and cameras. We warmly welcome you to capture and share your favorite moments with us during the reception.

Are children welcome to attend?

While we adore your little ones, our wedding will be an adults-only celebration, with the exception of immediate family. We hope this advance notice allows you to celebrate and enjoy an elegant evening out with us.

What is the dress code?

We request the pleasure of your company in Black Tie: All Black Attire Requested. We kindly ask that gentlemen wear black suits or tuxedos and ladies wear black dresses/pant suits.
